Jenelle and I are so proud to be a part of this great community. I grew up here in Rexburg and worked for many years at Clair and Dee’s tire store on 2nd east. My father was Dee Thueson. He loved the people of this community and I learned my love and respect for the people of this area through watching my father serve them.
Jenelle and I met at Ricks college (it truly was love at first sight) and then graduated from BYU Provo in 1986. Our career in commercial real estate took us back to the east coast for several years. Although we enjoyed our experience there, we always had a longing to be close to home. In 1996, an opportunity to start a new business in Columbia Falls, Montana, presented itself and we started a thriving family business.
With the passing of my Father in 1998 leaving my mother alone and our older children starting to attend BYU Idaho, we started looking for an opportunity to come back to Rexburg, Idaho.
In 2005, we identified a need for assisted living to care for the elderly so we started the Homestead Assisted Living.
We found we loved caring for the elderly and we continued to grow as the need presented itself.
We soon found ourselves turning this opportunity into a family business with sons-in-law Sam Stoddard and Garren Shakespear joining us to oversee the day to day management of the business. With their help and expertise, The Homestead Senior Living has grown to include independent living cottages, assisted living, a specialized memory care facility, and a home health and hospice agency. All these efforts and staff are focused on serving the elderly in our community whom we love so dearly.
We employee approximately 190 managers, caregivers, and nurses to help assist in the needs of caring for approximately 200 residents of our community.
We consider it our privilege every day to provide services to the pillars of our community. Our greatest desire is to love, serve, and create the very best experience for the seniors we serve. We look forward to assisting you and your family needs here at The Homestead Senior Living.
